A SELECTION OF SEASONAL COCKTAIL RECIPES FROM ALTITUDE SPIRTS
In the midst or post-Oktoberfest, all eyes are on beer this fall – including those of some top mixologists. Beer might not be the first ingredient you think to mix with finely-crafted spirits, but it offers a stunning diversity of flavors as a mixer. These five cocktails unite the delicious worlds of craft beer and craft spirits once and for all.
Highland Harvest - Hops/Scotch: Start with 1.5 ounces of Highland Harvest Scotch. Add 4 ounces of Belgian-style white ale—we suggest Crazy Mountain Lava Lake Wit. Squeeze in the juice of a fresh organic lemon wedge. Stir gently and serve in a lowball glass with a sprig of fresh basil.
Papagayo - Dark Dark & Stormy: Add 1.5 ounces of Papagayo Spiced Rum to 3 ounces of amber ale (we suggest Crazy Mountain Amber Ale) and 3 ounces of dark ginger beer. Stir gently and serve in a highball glass.
Juniper Green - Citrus Special: Start with 1.5 ounces Juniper Green Organic London Dry Gin. Add 3 ounces of a pale ale, such as Crazy Mountain Living Pale Ale, and 3 ounces of your favorite organic lemonade. Stir gently and pour into a highball glass, garnished with a wheel of fresh lemon.
Vodka 14 - Cocktail 16: Start by placing a handful of cardamom in a small sauce pan with water and boil until you create a concentrated liquid reduction. Strain and allow to cool. When ready to serve, pour six ounces of your favorite white ale, such as Two Jokers Double Wit, or wheat beer into a wine glass, and combine that with 1.5 ounces of Vodka 14, a quarter ounce of the cardamom reduction, the fresh-squeezed juice of a quarter lemon, and a quarter ounce of organic simple syrup. Stir gently. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
Juniper Green - Crème Theme: Add 3 ounces of Belgian-style white ale, such as Crazy Mountain Lava Lake Wit, to 1.5 ounces of Papagayo Silver Rum in a highball glass. Gently stir in 3 ounces of vanilla soda for a spirited update on a classic soda fountain treat.
